Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky Welcomes New Shareholder David Mongillo

Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky (SMGG) is proud to welcome David Mongillo as a shareholder, bringing with him a wealth of experience in education and public sector law.

David brings a multifaceted background to the firm, shaped by earlier careers as a special education teacher and newspaper reporter. His diverse experience enriches his practice, which focuses on advising schools and public sector entities on a broad range of legal matters, including special education law, governance, and compliance matters.

“We are thrilled to welcome David to the firm,” said Gretchen Moore, President of SMGG. “His deep understanding of the field of education and also public sector dynamics enhances our ability to serve clients with the integrity, insight, and commitment they expect from SMGG.”

David is a skilled legal advisor, frequently attending public meetings and providing guidance on regulatory compliance, governance, real estate, and contract negotiation. His deep insight into education law — informed by his time in the classroom — makes him a trusted advocate.

In addition, David maintains an active practice in litigation at both the trial and appellate levels.

David also provides pro bono legal services to Humane Action Pittsburgh, a non-profit focused on animal welfare.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, David also holds degrees from George Washington University and the University of Virginia.
