Would you rely on a complete stranger to make big decisions for you?
Would you expect a complete stranger to look out for your best interests?
Of course not.
What you might not realize is that you’re doing just that by not carrying uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage on your auto insurance policy.
Here’s why.
In Pennsylvania, auto insurance is legally required. But you are only required to carry $15,000 in bodily injury coverage. The less coverage you have, the cheaper your premiums. That’s to say, it is not uncommon for people to only carry the state minimum required coverage.
As you can imagine with the cost of living today and the always high cost of medical care, $15,000 doesn’t go very far. So how do you protect yourself from a small policy?
You purchase uninsured and underinsured motorist benefits. These benefits are yours, and they cover you in the event you are injured by an uninsured or underinsured driver. Purchasing this coverage puts you in control.
And if you are seriously injured by an uninsured driver or a driver with only state minimum coverage, you will thank yourself for ensuring that there are sufficient funds available to compensate you for those injuries.
It will cost you a little extra in premiums, but if you’re badly hurt by a driver with low limits, that cost will pale in comparison to the cost of enduring significant pain and suffering at the hands of someone else – with no, or very little, compensation available.
At Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky, our personal injury attorneys help victims attain a measure of justice and receive compensation for personal injury by making those responsible pay you what you deserve. Our attorneys advocate for victims of negligence, carelessness, and wrongful conduct, and we do not seek attorney’s fees until, and only if, we secure you an award or settlement.
