Alan Shuckrow Joins Board of Directors of Always B Smiling

Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky attorney Alan Shuckrow has joined the Board of Directors of Always B Smiling, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for children and adults with disabilities.

Always B Smiling was founded by Kristin and Dean Huibregtse in memory of their son, Bennett, who passed away at age 16 in 2020 due to kidney disease. Inspired by Bennett’s joyful spirit, the organization channels the Huibregtse family’s love and resilience into programs that promote inclusion, activity, and community for individuals with disabilities — particularly adults who often face limited opportunities after aging out of school-based programs.

The organization operates a unique activity center located along the Montour Trail in McMurray, Pa., made possible through a long-term land lease that allows Always B Smiling to offer year-round programming at no cost to participants. The center hosts a wide range of activities, including adaptive biking, arts and crafts, and outdoor recreation, as well as community events that bring together participants, families, and volunteers.

Alan’s involvement with Always B Smiling is deeply personal. His daughter attended the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children alongside Bennett, and his family has maintained a close friendship with the Huibregtse family for many years.
