SMGG Sponsors 25th Annual Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy’s Spring Hat Luncheon

Kentucky Derby Day or Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy‘s Spring Hat Luncheon? Saturday, May 6 in Frick Park was both. In keeping with SMGG’s devotion to our communities, Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky was delighted to sponsor the 25th annual Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy‘s Spring Hat Luncheon.

Over the last 25 years, the Spring Hat Luncheon has provided more than $10.5 million to support Pittsburgh’s park system. SMGG’s Jean E. Novak serves on the Board of Directors for Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy as well as their HR Committee.

SMGG supports PPC’s mission to improve quality of life for the people of Pittsburgh by restoring the park system to excellence in partnership with government and the community.

PPC is beginning an exciting new project with the support of a grant from the Edith L. Trees Charitable Trust, to plan, design and conduct community engagement for an outdoor sensory classroom at the Frick Environmental Center (FEC). This space will be specially designed to respond to the needs of educators, learners with exceptionalities, and park users.

To date, the Parks Conservancy has raised more than $130 million for parks and has completed 22 major improvement projects. Projects and programs are conducted with respect for the environment, historic design, and the needs of the diverse Pittsburgh region.

Gretchen Moore represented SMGG at the luncheon, along with PPC board member Jean E. Novak. Tina Checkan from Propel Schools, and Heidi Stephany Ondek from Western Pa. School for Blind Children, also attended.
