Diane Zack Buchanan has joined Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky as Of Counsel and will primarily concentrate her practice in the Beaver County office location. Ms. Buchanan's experience is very diverse. As a general practitioner, Ms. Buchanan has experience and proficiency with cases involving general litigation, wills and estates, various contracts including oil and gas leases and other property related matters. Further, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and prior to becoming a lawyer had 20 years experience in critical care nursing and hospital administration. Her medical knowledge provides an advantage in personal injury cases.
Ms. Buchanan also has substantial municipal law experience. She has represented the County of Beaver as Assistant Solicitor and has served various townships, zoning hearing boards and municipal authorities as solicitor. In her role as a municipal solicitor, Ms. Buchanan has handled a variety of issues which include: employment & labor law, property matters, zoning and planning issues, contracts, general civil litigation, tax related matters, and administrative law issues. In addition to these areas of practice, she deals with federal Aviation Administration regulatory issues and general aviation matters as the current solicitor for the Beaver County Airport Authority.
Further, Ms. Buchanan has handled extensive family law matters and has represented men and women in all aspects of separation, divorce, custody, child and spousal support, protection for abuse, prenuptial and marriage settlement agreements, enforcement, and equitable distribution.
When difficult challenges arise during individual cases, her knowledge and sensitivity to clients' specific needs brings a unique perspective in handling issues which arise. As an attorney and a registered nurse, Ms. Buchanan has more than 30 years of combined experience in both the legal and the medical fields. Ms. Buchanan, with her husband Jim Buchanan, is a co-owner of Buchanan Evergreen Farms, a wholesale and retail nursery business located in Beaver County. She is also the mother of three children, Erin, James and Lindsay.
