Reid B. Roberts is a shareholder and co-managing partner with the Pittsburgh office of the law firm of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. He heads the firm’s matrimonial law and domestic relations practice, and has worked in this area of the law since 1984.

His cases often involve issues of valuation of tangible and intangible assets, including interests in professional practices, business entities, real property and various forms of personal property such as jewelry, artwork and collectibles. In fact, he has given valuation seminars to meetings of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

His cases also often involve complex alimony, spousal support, child support and custody issues.

Mr. Roberts has represented a variety of clients from business executives and professionals to skilled tradesmen and owners of small companies. He has represented executives in some of Pittsburgh’s largest corporations, while other clients have ranged from university professors, physicians and entrepreneurs to business consultants, clergy and police officers.

One area of his practice that has developed involves representing fellow lawyers in their divorce matters, as well as the spouses of fellow lawyers who may feel intimidated by the legal process.

Another area of his practice that has developed involves representing foreign-born professionals with connections to the Western Pennsylvania region from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, China, Columbia, India, Israel, Mexico, Pakistan and Russia.

Prior to joining Strassburger McKenna, from 1985 to 1987, Mr. Roberts served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Lawrence W. Kaplan, of the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in Pittsburgh, and was engaged in private practice with a small local law firm.

Professional Activities – Mr. Roberts is a member of the Family Law Sections of the Allegheny County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is a past elected member of the Allegheny County Family Law Council, where he continues to chair the Judicial Opinions Committee. He is also a past elected member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Council, and is a past Master of the American Inns of Court – Pittsburgh Matrimonial Inn of Court Chapter, and has served on its Executive Committee.

Mr. Roberts is a Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. He also serves as a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Publications Committee. He has appeared in the past as a regular guest attorney on KQV Radio’s "Advice from Counsel" and on WJAS Radio’s "Your Money Matters."

Recognitions – Named a 2009 and 2010 "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" by Philadelphia and Pittsburgh magazines in the category of Family Law. He is also listed in Strathmore’s 2010 edition of "Who’s Who".

Community Activities – Mr. Roberts has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Rodef Shalom Congregation. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer of Jewish Residential Services. He has served as a member of the Board of the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition and as an alternate on the Fox Chapel School Board Citizen’s Advisory Committee.
