Matthew S. Marquette is a shareholder with the Pittsburgh office of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. His litigation practice encompasses a range of commercial, financial and personal injury cases. He has been awarded and collected on verdicts in excess of one million dollars.

In the area of personal injury litigation, Mr. Marquette has represented plaintiffs in auto accident, medical malpractice cases and insurance bad faith litigation obtaining millions of dollars in recovery from insurance companies on their behalf.

He has handled a variety of commercial cases on behalf of clients in the fields of corporate, banking and real estate services.

In the area of financial services litigation, Mr. Marquette represented a Pittsburgh-based corporation in collections and commercial default matters. In a highly technical case in which he was actively involved, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania made a precedent-setting ruling that a bank’s duty to refrain from paying debts to or on account of a judgment debtor is not negated by a transaction that is brief in duration.

For a large commercial real estate services firm, Mr. Marquette has been involved in numerous contract cases. His work also has encompassed insurance defense litigation.

Mr. Marquette has authored briefs for cases pending at the appellate level, articulating the client’s message with clarity and precision. He has also argued before the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Courts.

Mr. Marquette received his law degree in 2001 from the Duquesne University School of Law, and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar that same year. Within a month of his bar admission, he tried and won his first case before an arbitration panel, demonstrating his early aptitude for adversarial proceedings.

Mr. Marquette was selected for inclusion on the 2010 "Pennsylvania Rising Stars" list in the category of Personal Injury Plaintiff, General.
