Ilene H. Fingeret is of counsel to and an attorney with the Pittsburgh office of the law firm of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. She provides representation to clients in the areas of estates and trusts and all of their many complex components.

Ms. Fingeret has practiced in the area of estates and trusts for more than 10 years and has developed estate plans for families with a wide variety of needs and varying financial circumstances. Her practice includes counseling on the preparation and management of special needs trusts for families with issues relating to long range planning for disabled family members.

She also assists families in preparing for the problems associated with aging and advises them on the prudent management and conservation of family assets when faced with the potentially high costs of skilled nursing home care.

Ms. Fingeret's estate administration practice encompasses a wide range of services. She has handled the administration of multi-million dollar estates and is well-versed in all of the complexities of estate administration, including probate, tax preparation and ultimately the distribution of assets to heirs.

She has assisted estate clients in the creation of private foundations and the subsequent management and distribution of funds to charity.

Her practice in Orphans' Court includes the litigation of will contests, guardianships and the representation of trust beneficiaries.

Community Service

Ms. Fingeret currently serves as a board member of the University of Pittsburgh Law School Alumni Association, following her presidency in the late 1990s.

She has a long history of involvement with service to Pittsburgh's Jewish community and is serving on the National and Local Allocations Committee of the United Jewish Federation. She has served in leadership positions for the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, the University of Pittsburgh Leadership Council and Transitional Services Inc., an organization providing housing and services to mentally challenged individuals in the area.

Ms. Fingeret and her husband have been residents of Squirrel Hill for more than 30 years.
