Erica L. Laughlin is a director with the Pittsburgh office of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky.

Her practice includes commercial litigation and a wide range of civil litigation, including personal injury, products liability, property damage, contract, malpractice work, insurance liability, civil rights defense matters, and municipal law for the firm's clients.

Ms. Laughlin believes that her background in both pursuing and defending civil matters has given her an advantage in her practice, which she credits for her several successful magistrate hearings, arbitrations, and victory in her first solo non-jury trial. Other representative matters Ms. Laughlin has worked on include Right-to-Know Act issues for a large daily newspaper, contested wills, matters involving the Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act, matters related to government contracts involving both PennDOT and Port Authority of Allegheny County and a dispute involving a major coal company.

Ms. Laughlin was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in October 2004. She was certified to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in December 2004.

She is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Association.

Ms. Laughlin received her law degree in 2004 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. While in law school, she earned a certificate in the John P. Gismondi Civil Litigation Certificate Program. She also received an award for trial advocacy, sponsored by the Institute for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction.

In 2001, Ms. Laughlin graduated magna cum laude from Duquesne University with bachelor of arts degrees in both journalism and psychology.

Ms. Laughlin is a native of North Huntingdon, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
