David A. Strassburger is a shareholder with the Pittsburgh office of the law firm of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. He practices civil litigation exclusively.
During his career, Mr. Strassburger has successfully tried cases for plaintiffs and defendants, individuals and businesses, in state and federal court. His trial work has included such diverse matters as claims for unfair competition, employee benefits, employment discrimination, faulty building design and construction, and personal injury.
Mr. Strassburger regularly represents a number of newspapers in Western Pennsylvania in civil proceedings involving libel and privacy defense, Freedom of Information Act prosecution, and access to public proceedings and records. He co-authors the Survey of Third Circuit Privacy and Related Claims against the Media, and the Survey of Third Circuit Libel and Related Claims against the Media, published annually by the Media Law Resource Center. He frequently lectures for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on the topics of defamation and legal ethics.
In 2010, Mr. Strassburger was again selected as a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" and recognized by Thomson Reuters as receiving one of the Top 50 highest point totals for Pittsburgh lawyers. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America in the category of First Amendment and Media Law.
Professional and Community – Mr. Strassburger is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. He is also a member of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania Local Rules Advisory Committee.
From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Strassburger was law clerk to the Honorable Joseph F. Weis, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Mr. Strassburger is Chairman of the Board of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Family and Personal – Mr. Strassburger has been married since 1996 to Meredith Brozost Strassburger, L.S.W. They reside with their two children, Scott and Julia, in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh.
