Reid B. Roberts, a shareholder and former managing partner of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky, is the head of the firm’s divorce and domestic relations practice. He has practiced family law for more than 30 years. Reid provides the highest level of professional service to protect the interests of his clients and their families. He is a respected advocate, negotiator and litigator, and one of only approximately 70 members selected to the Pennsylvania chapter of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, whose mission is to promote the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law.
Reid is widely known for his skill in handling complex cases, which frequently involve issues of valuation of tangible and intangible assets, including interests in professional practices, businesses, real estate, retirement and personal property, such as jewelry, artwork and collectibles. His cases also often involve complex alimony, spousal support, child support and custody issues. Reid’s hands-on approach includes working closely with forensic accountants, business valuation experts, real and personal property appraisers, psychologists and other experts.
Reid represents a wide variety of clients, from business executives and professionals to owners of small companies and skilled tradesmen. He has represented executives in some of Pittsburgh’s largest corporations as well as University professors, physicians, entrepreneurs, consultants, clergy, teachers and police officers . Reid often represents fellow lawyers, as well as the spouses of lawyers who may feel intimidated by the legal process. His clients include foreign-born professionals with connections to Western Pennsylvania from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ethiopia, India, Israel, Mexico, Pakistan, Ukraine and Russia.
Before joining SMGG, Reid served as a law clerk for Judge Lawrence W. Kaplan of the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in Pittsburgh, and was in private practice with a local law firm.
